Happy Friday, SVCA members!

I wanted to provide an update on the national specialty to the membership so that you have a better idea of dates and activities. First and foremost, the event has been officially approved by AKC, so the Puppy and Veteran Sweeps, Regular Classes, and Non-regular Classes are officially designated as the Swedish Vallhund Club of America National Specialty!

We have confirmation that Dr. Komaromy will be available for an eye clinic, and we will also be hosting the annual membership meeting and banquet.

Below is the current (tentative) schedule of events. The specific timing of activities is not set in stone, but you will be provided with updates as everything sorts out. We may have to shuffle activities, but this will be finalized with plenty of time for everyone to be notified.

Celebration of Swedish Vallhunds Parade

We would like everyone to join our celebration of a long journey. From
friends with a common interest and love of the Swedish Vallhund breed, to FSS
listing, to full AKC recognition, and finally holding our first AKC licensed
SVCA National Specialty!

Come one, come all, to join in the fun with a BIG PARADE to celebrate the
journey of our breed. Our special Celebration of Swedish Vallhunds Parade will
be held Friday August 14th at the host hotel (Topeka Ramada) prior to the SVCA
banquet.

All Swedish Vallhunds are invited to participate. Be they show dogs (retired
or still showing), agility, rally, obedience, herding, rescue dogs, companions,
therapy dogs.... we welcome all to participate! Come join in the fun and meet
all your fellow Swedish Vallhund enthusiasts and their unique companions.
Information about each Vallhund participant will be announced along with a short
narrative about the dog.

There is NO CHARGE for participation in the parade.

Additional information, including a Parade Entry Form, will be available in the
SVCA consolidated specialty packet currently in the works.

Agility

This Comfort Inn is less than 1/2 mile from the agility show site, and is in a quiet location with plenty of grass for walking dogs. The manager is very excited to host the Vallhunds, so I anticipate a warm welcome from the hotel and staff.

$15.00 per *stay* pet fee (negotiated from $25 per night)

Cancellations made at least 24 hours before arrival date have no cancellation fee
After July 11, 2009, the remaining rooms will be released

The agility portion of the specialty is gearing up to be great fun. Mrs. Jeri Fishack will be judging the SVs in agility. The agility center is cleaning and repositioning all their Comfort King matting for the summer, and the owners of the center are getting excited about the Vallhund invasion.

Consolidated specialty packets will be sent to members soon, and will include information about all events. If anyone has any questions about the specialty, please feel free to contact me.

Room Sharing

I have received a request for room sharing at the national specialty, and I'm sure there may be others out there looking for a roommate.

If you are interested in sharing a room at the host hotel, please email me with the dates you would be staying, number of dogs, smoking/non-smoking, number of people, etc. I can put everything in a document and post to the list files section.

The current room share request is a female, staying Wed night-Sat night at the Topeka Ramada, non-smoker, one young male Vallhund.
